Mining/Crushing Quarry Environment looking for a Mechanic III for multiple locations.
Emphasizing their expertise, leadership qualities, and ability to handle complex repairs:
Advanced Equipment Repair and Maintenance (Master Mechanic)
- Functions as a master mechanic, expertly diagnosing and repairing all types of heavy equipment and plant machinery used in the landscape rock quarry operation (loaders, haul trucks, crushers, etc.).
- Independently tackles complex repairs, utilizing their extensive knowledge and experience to identify root causes and implement effective preventative maintenance solutions.
- Manages repairs that require specialized tools and techniques, ensuring proper procedures are followed for safety and efficiency.
- May perform major overhauls on engines, transmissions, and other critical equipment components.
- Possesses a deep understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems, adeptly troubleshooting and repairing even the most intricate malfunctions.
Leadership and Mentorship
- Provides leadership and guidance to less experienced mechanics, fostering a collaborative work environment within the maintenance team.
- Coaches and trains junior mechanics, sharing their expertise and ensuring proper skill development for future maintenance needs.
- Delegates tasks effectively, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs.
- Acts as a mentor, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team.
Problem-Solving and Innovation
- Analyzes complex equipment breakdowns, applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop effective repair strategies.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement in maintenance practices and implements innovative solutions to enhance equipment reliability and uptime.
- Works collaboratively with other departments (e.g., operations) to understand equipment usage patterns and tailor maintenance strategies for optimal performance.
Additional Responsibilities
- Works independently when provided with the proper lifting tools, ensuring safety during heavy equipment repairs.
- Maintains and utilizes a personal toolkit along with specialty tools required for various repair projects.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of preventative maintenance schedules to maximize equipment lifespan and minimize breakdowns.
- Analyzes maintenance data to identify trends and potential equipment weaknesses, enabling proactive maintenance strategies.
- Oversees the maintenance parts inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels to support repairs and minimize downtime.
- Maintains detailed and accurate records of all repairs performed, parts used, and equipment condition.
- May participate in the selection and procurement of new equipment or tools for the maintenance department.

They are the go-to person for resolving complex equipment issues and ensuring the smooth operation of the entire operation.
