Position Overview: Responsible for timely and accurate billing of multiple MaineCare and CDS service claims, researching denied claims, and processing appropriate adjustments and claim rebills in accordance with the department of health & Human Services Chapter 101 MaineCare Benefits Manual. Specifically, Chapter III Allowance Services.
This position is hybrid once fully trained, with the expectation of at least 3 days in the office per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In Alignment with Waypoint’s mission and guiding principles this position is responsible for, but not limited to the following key duties and responsibilities:
· Manage the full cycle billing process, including verifying, processing, and entering billing data in multiple billing software.
· Facilitates all billing/invoicing for the Agency as well as perform other related billing responsibilities for Mainecare and Child Development Services (CDS).
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records and documentation including clients’ information, services billing codes, rates, and current MaineCare authorizations in the billing systems and electronic backups.
· Ensures accuracy when billing.
· Respond to billing inquiries and provide exceptional customer service to, programs personnel, teammates, and the senior team.
· Research MaineCare and CDS denied claims to ensure all aged claims are collected upon.
· Timely processes all rebills, claim adjustments, reversals, write offs, etc.
· Examines monthly billing reports to ensure accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the accounting department.
· Collaborate with the accounting team to resolve any billing discrepancies, ensure accurate invoicing and revenue recognition.
· Acts as point of contact for all internal and external billing inquiries, research, reporting, etc.
· Assists with analyzing billing data, identifying trends, and investigating variances.
· Compiles requested billing data as needed. Pulls financial billing reports and prepares financial analysis as requested.
· Assists with pulling support for year-end audit, internal audits, or all audits by third-party payers.
· Stay informed about industry regulations and billing guidelines to ensure compliance.
· Other duties as assigned.
Position Competencies (Knowledge / Skills/ Abilities):
· 5 years Maine Care billing experience or proven experience as a Billing Specialist or similar role.
· Intermediate Microsoft Excel user. Must know how to use VLookup, XLookup, SumIFS, and Pivot Tables.
· Capable of handling stressful situations while managing competing priorities to meet deadlines.
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
· Strong independent research and problem-solving abilities.
· Highly organized.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Formidable verbal and written communication skills.
· Able to perform constant seated work tasks at a computer along with frequent fingering and handling of a pointed device and keyboard.
Additional Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a related field preferred.
· Experience with using billing software. Experience with Mybilling, Remarkable Health, CINC, Financial Edge preferred.
