JMG seeks an ELO Specialist at Lewiston High School.
The ELO Specialist works directly with students from Lewiston High School, playing a pivotal role in the distribution and expansion of Extended Learning Opportunities (ELOs). This position supports Lewiston High School students by emphasizing the students' ELO goals, streamlining the ELO administration process, and ensuring accessibility to various credentials of value, such as high school credit, college credit, and microcredentials. Additionally, the ELO Specialist fosters strong connections among students, educators, and community partners. The ELO Specialist also collaborates with the Lewiston Regional Technical Center (LRTC) ELO Coordinator to provide access to and support for the curriculum for credit recovery ELOs for LRTC students. The ELO Specialist serves as the primary liaison between JMG, Lewiston Public Schools (LPS), and community partners.
Responsibilities and Duties
Regional Coordination: Facilitate coordination efforts between LHS students and community partners to optimize student engagement and success during ELO placements.
Student Support: Build connections with students and support their ELO goals by coordinating placements based on their interests and career aspirations. Manage student applications for ELOs, ensuring consistency of intakes and support for ongoing ELO data collection.
Community Partner Engagement: Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with community partners to secure meaningful ELO placements for students.
Placement Management: Coordinate and arrange student placements with community and educational partners, ensuring a seamless transition and valuable learning experiences.
ELO Instruction: Act as an ELO instructor where applicable and assist in the onboarding and training of ELO instructors and supports at Lewiston High School and LRTC, ensuring they have the necessary resources and knowledge for successful instructional oversight.
Specific Qualifications:
Minimum BS/BA degree
Experience in program management, community engagement, or education.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, educators, and community partners.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
Commitment to promoting educational equity and student success.
Maine CHRC approval or the ability to attain Maine CHRC approval is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant experience in ELOs and work-based learning for youth, from the school or community partner side.
Familiarity with the specific educational landscape and community resources in the Lewiston/ Auburn community.
Working Conditions
This position is based primarily out of Lewiston High School. Semi-frequent travel within their designated region in Maine may be required along with occasional statewide travel.
The start date for this position is late July 2023
Compensation for this position is $43,000 plus additional bonuses. Paid time off includes school vacation weeks in December, February, and April, plus 15 additional vacation days. Staff also have 3 weeks of sick time, and 1 week of Covid time if needed.
