Perform all mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance of a more complex nature on golf course equipment to ensure equipment is in the best possible working condition. Employees are responsible for keeping up to date on operating procedures and policies and work with little to no oversight. Position requires flexibility for staffing work hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities.)
- Inspect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic defects and problems in small and heavy equipment, including tractors, mowers, and related golf course maintenance equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment; with an ability to perform welding and fabrication of both repairs and creating parts and tools.
- Perform a variety of minor and major vehicle and equipment repair including engine overhaul, air conditioning repair and electrical repair activities.
- Adjust mowers and tractors daily; change set up of machines; sharpen and adjust mower reels, hand tools and bed knives. Visually inspect all equipment during use on the golf course to ensure proper function/and or cut is achieved.
- Analyze vehicle and equipment failures; determine problems and causes; recommend solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain inventory of parts and supplies and order when necessary.
- Assist in general maintenance and keeping the shop area clean.
- Perform bodywork and painting on machines as needed.
- Flexible work schedules to include an ability to work weekends and overtime on short notice is required.
- May be required to mow and do duties of the Greenskeeper.
- Maintains consistent record of acceptable attendance and punctuality according to policy guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Sufficient Training and education to demonstrate possession of required knowledge, skills and qualifications are required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and/or two years mechanical training experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years hands on general maintenance and mechanical experience
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical problems in maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of maintenance, construction, and repair work for both electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of arc welding and fabrication techniques
- Principles and practices of inspection, troubleshooting and repair of internal combustion and diesel engines and performance of difficult maintenance procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Maintain both a valid Arizona driver's license and clear driving record for insurance purposes.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
