Medical Office Front Desk Receptionist
**Job Description:**
Are you a friendly and organized individual with a passion for providing excellent customer service? We are seeking a dedicated Front Desk Receptionist to join our medical office team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, responsible for greeting them, scheduling appointments, and assisting with administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the office.
**Responsibilities:**
1. Welcome patients and visitors to the medical office with a warm and professional demeanor.
2. Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries, providing information and directing calls to the appropriate staff members.
3. Schedule patient appointments, ensuring accuracy of appointment details and verifying patient information.
4. Register new patients by collecting demographic and insurance information, and entering it into the electronic medical records system.
5. Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients, and assist with insurance-related inquiries and paperwork.
6. Coordinate patient referrals to specialists or other healthcare providers as needed.
7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area and waiting room, ensuring a welcoming environment for patients.
8. Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and scanning documents.
9. Adhere to privacy and confidentiality standards in handling patient information and medical records.
10. Collaborate with other members of the medical office team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
**Requirements:**
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Previous experience in a receptionist role, in a medical setting a MUST.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with patients, staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
4. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and electronic medical records systems.
6. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in fast-paced and sometimes stressful situations.
7. Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance terminology is advantageous.
8. Willingness to undergo training on office procedures and protocols.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
1. Certification or training in medical office administration or related field.
2. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
3. Experience with scheduling software or electronic health records (EHR) systems.
