Summary
This position is primarily responsible for conducting investigations in the field and gathering the information related to accidents, corporations, persons, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct complex investigations on events involving fatal accidents, occupational accidents on site, disease-related mishaps, catastrophic injuries, etc., occurring on site, and prepare the investigation report based on the findings.
- Work late nights and weekends as needed to make contact with witnesses and comply with time-sensitive projects.
- Conduct in-depth research on individuals and/or corporate entities using the full range of U.S. and international open sources, including social networking sites, news media, public records, web search engines, and online databases for subject information.
- Have some technical understanding of motor vehicles and be able to perform detailed inspections of them.
- Document investigation through detailed narrative-styled reports. Document searches and results in a case management system in accordance with internal protocols.
- Analyze investigation results for relevance and reliability; revise the investigative strategy as needed.
- Conduct very detailed witness interviews, obtaining written and/or recorded statements.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and abilities)
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Be, or be eligible to be, licensed as a private investigator in multiple states
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and overnight travel.
- Ability to regularly travel – 50-75%.
- Prior experience in law enforcement and / or insurance field adjusting such as SIU
- Preferably have accident reconstruction / investigation experience.
- Have prior experience conducting field investigations
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to interview witnesses and document what is learned.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively to meet tight deadlines with strong time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks
- Must be well organized and detail-oriented and possess strong analytical and communication skills.
- Be independent, self-motivated, and self-monitoring, but also be able to collaborate and interact with all levels and types of individuals including internal staff, clients, witnesses, officials, etc.
- Be discrete and professional and maintain confidentiality with regards to research and investigative projects, as well as company activities and practices.
- Be able to investigate with the proper level of tenacity, considering the client's need for discretion, public record laws, and professional ethics.
- Understand automobile technicality.
- Be a critical thinker.
- Have a proven ability to write and review detailed reports.
- Competent computer database skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
