The role of Audience Development Director is to develop and manage the strategic growth and retention of our print, digital, and event audiences. This includes print subscribers, newsstand buyers, email newsletter subscribers, website visitors, and event attendees.

W e are a flat organization, and leaders at D all function on a Coach/Player basis. No one wears a crown here. The Audience Development Director will manage our Audience Development coordinator, our Social Media Manager, and our data research editors (2). They work closely with our Digital Product Director and our editorial teams, as well as our Sales Manager and sales executives who sell advertising, sponsorships, event marketing and advertising access to our digital platforms. Audience Development is at the center of it all.

- Manage the consumer database housed within HubSpot, including building strategic audiences and first-party data; oversight of data hygiene and deliverability issues, audience segmentation and workflow processes for all our consumer products. You will need to be a HubSpot super user.
- Develop and maintain reports on all audiences and develop and manage engagement, retention and acquisition efforts across multiple products.
- Budget planning and budget oversight for all audience development programs, including circulation building direct mail, paid social media outreach, brand advertising, newsletter promotion, database management, digital analytics.
- Gather relevant data for postal and third-party audits, which we provide to our advertisers
- Web analytics reporting. Know GA4 inside and out, SEO, multiple APIs for the website, e-commerce basics
- Evaluate and make decisions on any tools or software to be used for fulfillment efforts, newsstand management, contesting, database, marketing automation, etc.
- Aggressively stay on top of industry trends and opportunities.
- Develop targeted efforts to further engage our online audiences on a path to become brand enthusiasts.
- Continuously monitor circulation numbers across each of the D Magazine Partners brands ( D Magazine, D Home, D CEO , and D Weddings ) to ensure that benchmark goals are hit, if not exceeded.
- Create and nurture new initiatives that support the overall department vision
- Build and maintain great relationships with the vendors that keep us going
