Job Title: PreK Teacher Assistant
Department: Child Care
Supervisor: Lead PreK Teacher
Hours: 35+ hours/wk

General Description:
It is the responsibility of the PreK Teachers Assistant to support the classroom and help with curriculum support and ensure a high quality educational and developmental classroom experience for both children and their parents. This will be demonstrated by following the standards set forth by the YMCA.
Essential Job Duties That Must Be Safely Performed With or Without Reasonable Accommodation:
· The Teachers Assistant will support comprehensive services, to support the classroom and help with classroom curriculum and early learning development.
· Provide Health Services; including the development of Health Plans, Medication Administration and documentation, and review of immunizations.
· Assist in the planning and organizing of at a minimum of two (2) parent conferences for each enrolled child, or as many as the timeframe allows for late enrollees.
· Provide support of open house, orientation and ongoing family engagement activities for families.
· Implement programs in compliance with Maine Childcare Licensing Regulations.
· Participate in the Quality for ME Program.
· Assist in the day-to-day classroom operations; including the planning and implementation of daily schedules and lesson plans.
· Monitor and assure a safe environment.
· Participate in childcare training and workshops which meet the state requirement of 40 hours per year.
· Ensure that the childcare areas remain clean and safe to established standards.
· Properly clean and store childcare equipment after each session.
· Develop and implement quality assurance programs; insuring the highest quality, child-focused and risk limited programs.
· Ensure that programs meet or exceed all state and local licensing requirements.
· Maintain accurate and complete records for each child as required to meet all licensing requirements.
· Conduct effective written and verbal communication both with staff and parents.
· Maintain complete confidentiality of all information obtained on the children in the YMCA programs.
· Follow all policies in the parent handbook.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands/Hazards: * The position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- The position requires contact with members, families, facility staff, and the general public.
- The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to lift and carry children up to 50 pounds in weight in a safe manner.
- Must be able to lift and move tables, chairs, and large equipment (toys) up to 50 pounds.
Required Job Skills: * Must be able to provide verbal/visual presentations to students.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Proven ability to relate effectively with coworkers, employees, parents and children of varying ages.

Education/Experience: * Must be a minimum of 21 years old.
- Must have an. Ed Tech level II certification or higher
· Complete Criminal History and Record Checks.
- CPR and first aid certification required.
- Have or become TS GOLD Reliable
