PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: Assist with sales profitability, growth and account penetration within an assigned territory and/or market segment by effectively selling Midwest Industrial Products equipment line, personally contacts and secures new business and/or existing business accounts/customers.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
- Direct on-site selling of MIP’s equipment products to include a full line of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Ventilation equipment used in both commercial and industrial applications. Successful projects include oil mist, smoke and dust collection applications, fan applications, and filter applications for multiple industries. This person will be responsible for expanding the current customer base and the development of long-term business using the existing product line and is a key contributor for the development of new customer accounts.
- Assist sales team with the promoting, selling, and securing orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
- Communicates knowledge of products and services to existing/potential customers and assists them in selecting those best suited to their project needs.
DUTIES:
- Define, meet, exceed sales targets for existing market.
- Work with venders, manufacturers engineering teams to properly service the needs of customers.
- Develops and maintains business relationships through on-site visits and phone calls to new prospective customers and existing customers.
- Research sources for developing prospective customers.
- Assist sales team in organizing daily activities and functions.
- Expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints.
- Coordinates sales effort with operation team and accounting.
- Identifies advantages and compares organization’s products/services.
- Keeps abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with marketing and technical service areas.
- Advise on market conditions, including channels, and end user accounts.
- Develop and recommend plans to increase market share.
- Develop marketing materials including brochures, flyers, and emailing lists.
- Negotiate delivery, availability, and warranty within management guidelines; conduct follow up on orders.
- Prepare and conduct customer education, training, and product information meetings.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Compiles customer general company information, contacts, project application information, and meeting notes.
- Maintains Midwest Industrial Products customer relationship management (CRM) database.
- Provide accurate forecasting of pipeline of key accounts for 1- and 5-year planning.
- Prepare proposals, written presentations, reports and price quotations.
- Assist in the maintenance of accounts receivable in compliance with objectives.
- Complete timely expense reports.
- Understanding of QuickBooks accounting software.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
- Continually enhance product knowledge and selling skills by participating in company sponsored and external professional and technical training programs.
- Keep abreast of competition, competitive issues, products and markets for motion control products.
- Attend and participate in sales meetings, product training seminars and trade shows.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated creativity and success in developing a territory / achieving sales goal.
- Ability to negotiate large-scale projects and contracts within corporate guidelines.
- Ability to network within organizations.
- A mechanical background in the commercial and industrial industry with emphasis on Air Quality equipment.
- Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical components and systems.
- Ability to guide a customer to the best solution.
- Ability to develop custom solutions when standard products may not fit.
- Ability to travel 25%.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Proficient with 3D Modeling – Solid Works, AutoCAD, Takeoff, Mechanical & Electrical drawings.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Can work both independently and as part of a team by sharing information and supporting company procedures and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or STEM related discipline.
- Relevant experience with Air Quality equipment plus Industrial equipment
- US citizenship.
