Job Summary:
Work responsibility is to ensure the safety and custodial support operations of the Port Authority’s cruise terminal, operational buildings and park areas. Employees in this classification are responsible for overseeing daily operations and work assignments of contract custodial and CPA support staff to ensure proper safety and sanitary conditions of all terminal areas, tenant, Port-owned buildings, and all CPA parks. Work includes interfacing with cruise line officials and subcontractors to aid in any customer and support service areas within functions under charge.
Essential Functions:
- Performs scheduling and work order assignments for the day-to-day coverage at each cruise terminal and other Port facilities.
- Reviews and maintains proper contract documents to include schedules and payroll administration for contract service employees.
- Periodically inspects areas under charge for conformance to established safety, health and cleanliness standards; generates work orders for repair work in Port facilities.
- Generates purchase orders and purchase requests.
- Interacts with cruise line officials, subcontractors and government agencies to aid in customer satisfaction.
- Coordinates inter-departmental tasks for upcoming special events, e.g., staff coverage, scheduling, event set-up and breakdown, etc.
- Performs staff management tasks, e.g., employee selection, performance counseling and recognition, employee development, and corrective action.
- Works collaboratively with Public Safety and Security and Customs and Border Protection to ensure vendors and other individuals have approved access to enter secured areas.
- Generates custodial work orders to be done in cruise terminals, office buildings, and parks and ensures adherence of all staff to established safety precautions.
- Confers daily with staff, contract employees, and contractors as well as hosting weekly meetings to achieve elevated employee morale while maintaining optimal customer service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- During emergency conditions, all CPA employees are automatically considered essential employees and may be subject to recall. These events may include, but are not limited to, natural, man-made, or public health emergencies. Employees may be expected to perform emergency and/or recovery operations outside of their normal assigned responsibilities and routine working hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, or a related field; supplemented by two (2) to three (3) years supervisory experience in office or operations management; greater experience may substitute for all or a portion of the educational requirements; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- Experience managing custodial services for multi-building campuses, theme parks, and convention centers preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- Must have intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Licenses / Certification Required:
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days
- Must be able to secure a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Physical Requirement:
- Tasks involve the intermittent performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds). May require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavier objects.
Environmental Requirements
- Some tasks are performed with potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements including, but not limited to, heat, humidity, inclement weather, loud noise, and weapons. Tasks include working around moving parts, vehicles, equipment, carts, and materials handling, where heightened awareness to surroundings and environment is essential in the preservation of life and property. Standard body gear and equipment applies in the preservation of life and property, as does safety equipment based on the nature of the work.
