This position performs a variety of semiskilled tasks in at least two trades in connection with the maintenance, repair and/or construction of buildings and facilities and related equipment and machinery. This position functions at the sub-journey level in Plumbing, Mechanical, Fabrication or other trades that are less technical and complex.
This position may also perform sub-journey level work in other trades such as welding, electrical, heating and air, or similar specializations. Work assignments are routine in nature. Work is subject to review while in progress and upon completion is given final review to determine compliance with work orders and adherence to established maintenance, repair and/or construction standards. Employees may perform other duties as required.
Other responsibilities include:

Maintaining campus buildings, equipment, and infrastructure.

Manage plant operations to provide utilities (electrical power, water, steam, etc.) to campus areas as required for operation.

Manage capital improvement projects and coordinate work.

Assists higher level trades specialists in the completion of non-routine and complex projects.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
or
a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience associated with a variety of mechanical or building trades;
or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or university.
