Provides medical and psychiatric care for patients on a daily basis. Works collaboratively with the Medical Director and medical team to meet patient needs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides primary medical care and physical exams to patients with follow-up.
- Provides individual psychopharmacotherapy evaluation and treatment, particularly for anxiety, insomnia, and depression in post-acute withdrawal.
- Provides individual psychoeducation and therapy for anxiety, depression, mood disorders, psychosis, and polysubstance use disorder and alcohol use disorder from a family systems view, appreciating mutual self-help groups, AA, Al Anon, Dharma Recovery, and Rational Recovery.
- Provides psychoeducation on the neurobiology of addiction, drug dependence, substance misuse, abuse, and behavior.
- Leads and co-leads patient groups.
- Provides training and support to staff, as needed.
- Available to both family members and outside providers, as needed.
- Maintains a commitment to professional growth and competency by completing mandatory staff development trainings, seeking feedback regarding work performance, and identifying strengths and areas for professional development with supervisor.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and presents in a positive and professional manner.
- Provides backup coverage to the Medical Director, as needed.

- Reports directly to Medical Director.
Requirements: Must be currently licensed as a CNP in the State of Maine. Must have two or more years’ experience working with individuals with substance use disorder and/or co-occurring psychiatric conditions.

Requires demonstrated ability to exercise proper judgement, discretion, initiative, and have excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership position.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication.
- Proven excellence in time management and multi-tasking.
- Must be CPR and First Aid certified; or training provided. Willingness to become a trainer.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Must be comfortable answering the phones to include patient calls, family calls and calls from referral sources and business contacts.
- Able to prioritize workload to assure patient care is addressed in a timely manner.
- All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes.
Working conditions: Works in a typical residential psychiatric setting with patients who are experiencing a wide range of acute psychiatric conditions. Moderate amount of walking. Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Significant mental effort involved in working with and organizing care for a diverse patient population.
Schedule is Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30AM – 5:00PM. Weekend On-call coverage will be required on a rotating basis.
