MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
1. Assists the PVV Coordinator in developing, implementing and coordinating neighbor-centered activity programs, including community intergenerational programs.
2. Assists in the activities of daily living, as needed, including dressing, personal hygiene (shaving, dental hygiene, nail care), mobility devices (cane, walker, wheelchair), and assistance with ADL devices (eyeglasses, hearing aids).
3. Assists with physician-ordered medication distribution and administration, as needed.
4. Observes and reports changes in neighbors’ physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to PVV Coordinator as needed.
5. Delivers neighbor mail, as needed.
6. Must be knowledgeable of charting requirements per state and federal regulations, including but not limited to, recording medication administration, observations and reporting of changes in neighbor’s physical/emotional condition, activities and special events, incidents, errors, or accidents.
7. Conducts room checks and neighbor rounds.
8. Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of neighbors and understands the aging process.
9. Acts as a mentor to newly hired RCAs and exemplifies a high level of performance of dependability. Orients newly hired RCAs to shift routines, care philosophies, and neighbor preference.
10. Assists in escorting neighbors and coordinates external transportation, as needed.
11. Performs housekeeping tasks in the community, including vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning bathrooms, changing/making beds, mopping, watering plants, providing laundry services, dusting, and cleaning and caring for the aviary.
12. Assists in a variety of tasks related to dining, including escorting neighbors to dining room, set up and clean tables, serve meals, and bus tables.

13. Responsible for participating in and supporting the neighbor/elder-centered activity program. Assists in planning and executing an activity plan designed to meet the interests and needs of all neighbors at PVV and elders of BCHCC. Supports the intergenerational program with the children of the day care center.
14. Attends various meetings and education as required to perform the essential functions of the position.
15. Is familiar with the admission and discharge processes, stocking of medication cart, other inventories, neighbor chart set-up, and other documentation or general office duties required for maximum efficiency in day-to-day operations.
16. Establishes a professional working relationship with all neighbors, families, and staff and consistently works with all household team members, led by neighbor and family preference to meet the needs and desires of all neighbors. Presents a professional image through dress, speech, and behavior.
17. Adheres to all neighbor rights, including privacy, confidentiality, and treating neighbors with dignity and respect.
18. Participates in ongoing quality improvement and quality assurance programs for the household.
19. Creates community through elimination of institutional barriers, and enhances relationships in the home through shared activities of living and promoting compassionate services.
20. May work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and may be called during off-duty hours to respond to emergencies or unusual circumstances.
21. Follows universal precautions, proper infection control, sanitation and fire and safety standards of practice in all work and activities. Assists the coordinator in assuring these items are being followed.
Reports any accident/incident or hazards no matter how insignificant.
22. Responds to and acts appropriately in emergency or disaster situations.
23. Performs other duties as assigned by coordinator and organization administrator.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Must be certified in first aide, CPR, and QMAP (Qualified Medication Administration Person).
2. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language. Must be able to document and communicate clearly and succinctly.
3. Must be able to organize and prioritize work assignments, work independently or with a team, be detail oriented, reliable, dependable, and willing to take initiative. Must be able to multi-task. Works harmoniously with neighbors, elders, staff, and visitors.
4. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
1. Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment and supplies in excess of fifty pounds.

2. Works in an office, throughout the building, and in neighboring rooms.
3. Must relate to physically ill neighbors and at times hostile and emotionally upset neighbors.
4. Is exposed to chemicals and cleaning solutions.

Continuing Education Requirements
Must comply with all requirements needed to effectively perform the position functions.

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
