GC&E Federal is seeking a talented and professional Application Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the CDC cancer registries in analyzing and studying moderate to complex system requirements including functional business applications. You will collaborate with a team of professionals, but also work independently with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent knowledge of Microsoft .NET Framework/SQL server with C#, VB.NET, and application development expertise and have a strong understanding of various operating systems and platforms. An analytical mindset and attention to detail are essential qualities for success in this role.
Key Experience and Skills:
- Analyzes and studies moderate to complex system requirements including functional business applications
- May translate detailed design into application systems
- Install, configure, and maintain an open-source Electronic Health Record (EHR) system such as Open EMR. This system will be used to generate test/sample CDA data files, for testing of eMaRC Plus Physician Reporting module and Cancer CDA Implementation Guide (IG) without having to request sample data from vendors.
- Ensure the EHR system has the latest coding standards for ICD, SNOMED CT, LOINC, etc. installed for use and export of sample data.
- Configure EHR system to import Implementation Guides (IGs) for testing purposes.
- Add sample/test patient data to EHR system. Data would include demographic data, Social Determinates of Health (SDOH) data, clinical data, laboratory data etc. as needed for testing.
- Configure EHR to export HL7© CCDA, HL7© V2.x.x messaging, HL7© FHIR© etc. data files for testing.
- Investigate new and novel ways to use the EHR system to further cancer incidence collection, reporting and surveillance.
- Investigate the use of collaboration possibilities with standard setting organizations, vendors, CCRs and other interested parties that may result in the improvement of cancer incidence reporting.
- Participates in estimating software development schedules
- Works with business analysts and/or researchers to aid in system requirements definition
Minimum Requirements:
- Five (5) or more years’ experience with Microsoft .NET Framework/SQL server with C#, VB.NET, and application development expertise. In-depth experience working with XML, xPath, HL7© 2.x, HL7© FHIR©, and HL7© CDA (Clinical Document Architecture). Developer should have knowledge of the eMaRC Plus ePath and Physician Reporting modules, cancer registry operations, and AZURE TFS/AZURE DEVOPS management software.
Required Experience:
Preferred Education, Certifications, and Soft Skills/Experience:
- Working knowledge of the CDC National Program of Cancer Registries
- Strong team oral and written collaboration, skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, business analysts, other developers, engineers, as well as other professional and scientific personnel
- Experienced in customer service
- Ability to work well under pressure
Physical Requirements:
- Indoors in a normal office environment and/or partial to full work from home. May require extensive periods of sitting or standing. Frequent computer uses at workstation for several hours at a time. Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
