Director of Communications & Engagement

Job Summary: The Director of Communications & Engagement is the strategic relationship-builder with knowledge of the communities PCC serves. They develop and implement a community engagement program for our organization and works to build and grow PCC’s community ties and support collaborations that promote the access to affordable healthcare. They are also responsible for developing effective staff engagement systems including communications platforms, leadership development programs, DEI and wellness initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Community Partnerships
- Develop and implement a strategy and plan to maintain and deepen PCC’s community ties in alignment with organizational priorities

Develop, expand and maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders and collaborate internally to support these partnerships

Represent PCC externally at meetings and events and serve as an advocate for PCC’s mission and the needs of our patients

Develop and manage a communications plan to support PCC’s community involvement; including coordinating with local media outlets to promote community events.
- Work in partnership with others to create and support programs that promote access to affordable healthcare.
- Develop systems for tracking engagement activities organization-wide and create outcome goals and metrics to demonstrate the impact of PCC’s community involvement

Develop a plan for building community organizations and improving community life, and supports neighborhood planning efforts through outreach and partnership building with residents, city officials, and other stakeholders.
Staff Communications & Engagement
- Responsible for developing and authoring accurate and timely staff communication efforts to empower information sharing and knowledge across the organization.
- Develop and implement a leadership-training program for supervisors across the organization to develop leadership and management skills.
- Researches, develops, recommends, and executes creative strategies to foster the organization’s diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) goals and business objectives.
- Plan, organize and execute a wide range of staff events including conferences, meetings, and social gatherings

Coordinate with vendors, caterers, and other event professionals to ensure seamless event execution

Spearhead the development and implementation of staff wellness programs that help employee mental and physical health.

Experience/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or other related field required.

5-7 years’ experience managing community engagement activities or other relevant professional experience in community relations, communications and project management preferably in a healthcare environment.

Proficient in MS Office Suite. (i.e: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Physical Demands:
- May be required to work irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as necessary to complete assigned duties and responsibilities and/or supervise others

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

Must be able to move around the clinic site 50% of the time

Constantly operates a computer, computer printer, copy machine and telephone

Occasionally positions self to maintain exertion of physical strength to move objects of 10 pounds from one level to another

Must be able to transport from one site to another, throughout the city and suburbs are required
