Scope: The accountant plays a crucial role in our government contracting firm's Finance Department, ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of financial processes. The incumbent will be responsible for various accounting functions, including financial reporting and analysis, while adhering to government contracting regulations and industry standards.
Location: Remote, San Antonio based preferred.

Full-time:
The normal work schedule shall be M-F 8:00 am to 5 pm CST; however, there may be times when it is necessary to work after/before duty hours in support of specific tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and government contracting regulations.
Compliance:

Stay current with government contracting regulations and ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements. Assist in the preparation for audits and reviews.
Invoicing and Accounts Receivable:
-
Prepare and issue invoices to clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with government contracting regulations and contractual terms.

Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections. Reconcile discrepancies and address issues promptly.
General Ledger Management:

Record and classify financial transactions accurately in the general ledger, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll entries.

Maintain the integrity of the general ledger. Reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
Financial Analysis:

Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes. Provide insights into financial trends, performance, and opportunities for improvement.
Tax Compliance:

Work with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Assist in the preparation of tax filings.
Audit Support:

Support internal and external audit processes, providing documentation and explanations as required. Address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
Process Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process improvement within the Finance Department. Implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Associate degree with 5 years’ experience will also be considered.

Proven experience as an Accountant, preferably in government contracting.

Knowledge of government contracting regulations, including FAR and DCAA requirements.

Strong proficiency in QuickBooks.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.

Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
