Conducts volunteer recruitment, orientation, training, placement, scheduling and recognition. Maintains volunteer hours and years of service information. Maintains and manages volunteer contact and scheduling database.

Serves as a staff liaison to volunteer-led clubs and committees. Assists volunteers with programs and events as needed.

Identifies opportunities for volunteers to assist with community projects and events. Communicates with other Metro District staff regarding volunteer needs and opportunities.

In conjunction with the Senior Services Manager, helps recruit, orient and develop the Friends of the Highlands Ranch Senior Center Executive Board (501c3) members.

Oversees front desk operations including customer service, membership and program registration, and cash handling procedures.

Serves as subject matter expert for all aspects of MySeniorCenter/MyActiveCenter. Trains staff on use of MySeniorCenter/MyActiveCenter. Troubleshoots issues with software and equipment and communicates with vendor.

Ensures deposits are made on a timely basis. Maintains fiscally responsible operations through management of PT employee schedules and volunteer assignments.

Provides direct supervision to the front desk and facility use part time staff and is responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating staff.

Effectively responds to and manages emergencies and critical incidents with center members, building users and guests. Communicates with Senior Services Manager as needed.

Works with custodial staff to ensure rooms are properly set up for senior center activities with appropriate furniture and equipment. Oversees the set-up and tear-down of rooms as needed. Communicates with other center staff regarding facility use and scheduling for senior center programming.

Works a flexible schedule to support Senior Center operating needs. Opens and closes building as required.

Education and Experience:

Graduation from High School.
-
Associate’s degree or Community College Diploma.
-
Two years’ experience with administrative support, customer service, volunteerism, computers, or community/senior center operations.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience working with an older adult population.
-
Experience recruiting, training, supervising and scheduling volunteers.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent training skills.

High level of problem-solving and decision-making ability, self-initiates work and completes tasks with little direction.

Excellent computer skills.

Ability to accurately and responsibly handle cash, check and credit card transactions and make deposits.

Excellent customer service skills.
-
CPR/AED/First Aid certification required within 3 months of hire.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of the Senior Services Manager.
Supervises part-time staff and volunteers.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Personal computer, Microsoft Windows 10 Pro, database and web-based software, multi-function printer/copier/scanner, telephone, calculator, and other general office or kitchen equipment.

The hours and schedule of this position are regular business hours with some evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
WORK SCHEDULE
Generally, works between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work schedules will vary depending on weather conditions, projects, events, programs, meetings, and staffing levels, and will include some evening, early morning, and weekend hours. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
