Analytical Food Laboratories, a Tentamus North America company, is on the prowl for a Wet Chemist I to join our innovative team in Grand Prairie, TX. AFL is a full-service accredited lab providing crucial food quality and safety analysis for local and global clients.
How you will make meaningful contributions as a vital part of our team:
Under the direction of the Chemistry Lab Supervisor, the Wet Chemist I performs a variety of technical laboratory functions in the daily operation and maintenance of the chemistry laboratory. Duties include but are not limited to:

Performing representative wet/rapid tests including Protein, Fat, Moisture, Salt, Ash, pH, and water activity on various sample types.

Understand and follow the policies, procedures, and SOPs and remain in compliance with all accrediting/certifying agencies.

Independently perform testing and/or quality control procedures and record data according to laboratory policies and procedures.
- Produce accurate, defensible, and traceable test results and report them within the client-required timeframe by reviewing client test requests, following testing methods precisely, ensuring controls are in place, and notifying supervisors of any issues with equipment, media, or test methods.

Understand and practice the principles of GLP and use basic laboratory equipment such as pH, Water Activity, Moisture Ovens, Safety Hoods, and Analytical Balances.

Use equipment as instructed and report any accidents or malfunctions to lab management.

Understand the flow of samples through the chemistry lab and become proficient at each step including Sample prep, homogenization procedures, Retain and disposal of samples, Daily Quality Control Samples, Troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of equipment.

Practice proper and accurate record keeping while ensuring readability, traceability and making corrections when necessary.

Actively participate in laboratory and equipment cleaning and maintenance.

Full-Time | M - F - 8AM-5PM/7AM-4PM/9AM-6PM | OT Eligible

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related scientific field

Familiarity with laboratory equipment and protocols

Strong analytical skills and a keen eye to detail

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
