About You
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide co-occurring psychiatric/substance use/medical evaluation and treatment to children and adults in crisis. This position will demonstrate an advanced level of clinical knowledge, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration that will work with individuals and families/caregivers who are experiencing behavioral health crises. Emphasis will be placed on the provision of problem-focused, time-limited psychotherapy in conjunction with other mental health professionals. Day in the Life

In collaboration with overseeing psychiatrist, provide psychiatric services to children and adults through psychiatric evaluation, medication review and prescription, consultation to staff/family members/provider network, etc.

Provide emergency medication review for persons served within the Oakland County Health Network (OCHN)

Provide active psychiatric treatment which includes psychiatric evaluation, medication review, medication prescribing, and any other psychiatric service
- Provide psychiatric services to persons served in Common Ground services across programs such as Oakland Assessment and Crisis Intervention Service (OACIS) and Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) and Genesee Mobile Crisis Service Team (GMCS)
- Evaluate the consumer’s medication needs and write prescriptions to start medically necessary medications for people who have been referred to the BHUC
- Ensure all documentation in consumer’s chart is complete and electronically signed so that patients can access recommendations and medication instructions
What you need to apply

Master’s Degree or Doctorate Degree as a Nurse Practitioner with a focus on psychiatric nursing

Must be licensed/certified as a Nurse Practitioner from Michigan State Board of Nursing and ANA/ANCC Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Completion of an accredited program as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, including preceptorship

Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license
-
Controlled Substance License, preferred

Minimum of one (1) year psychiatric nursing experience in crisis work and client/patient screening and assessment

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in providing direct client care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders

Experience with telemedicine, preferred

Experience providing medication management for psychiatric patients, preferred
-
Experience working in therapy strategies, preferred
