POSITION OVERVIEW
The Shipping & Receiving Operator I role is responsible for preparing items for shipment. The operator verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accepts and signs for deliveries from vendors.
- Operate LP & electric forklifts.
- Load and unload shipments to and from delivery trucks.
- Utilize ADC Barcode system to move product and pick orders for delivery.
- Prepare product for shipping such as labeling, wrapping, cleaning, and capping
- Operate stretch wrap machine.
- Checks packing lists to ensure all items are accounted for.
- Opens boxes and inspects contents of shipments to verify contents are not damaged and correct materials have been received.
- Use dollies, forklifts, and other moving equipment to transport shipments from loading dock and around stockroom.
- Maintain shipping area to ensure it is clean, organized and 5S is maintained daily.
- All other duties, as assigned
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
- High School diploma or GED
- 2 years of similar shipping related experience (preferred)
- ERP experience (preferred)
- Certified to drive forklift required (or ability to certify within 90 days)
Knowledge & Skills
- Capable of working independently to manage day-to-day tasks
- Intermediate user type understanding of the Microsoft Office 365 & Suites: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Familiarity with an ERP solution (i.e. SAP, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics ERP, etc.)
- Familiarity with X3 system and ADC barcode scanners
- Creativity in approaching complex challenges and problems

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort may occasionally be present in the work environment (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.). Occasional exposure to potential for minor injury or other health hazards may be possible. Health hazard precautions may have to be implemented in some instances (safety glasses, latex gloves, etc.).
