Description:
Responsibilities:
- Design and install the equipment used in transmitting wired phone, cellular, cable, and broadband data.
- Work with copper or Fiber Optic cables and complex networks as well as switching systems
- Design or configure communications systems, including voice, video, and data, and install or coordinate installation for new or modified hardware, software, or programming modules of a telecommunications system.
- Evaluate hardware and software to determine its efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with the existing systems, networks, and data.
- Monitor and analyse system performance to proactively identify service-impacting issues, manage large products requiring telecommunication services, and ensure timely planning and implementation.
- Produce, update, and generally improve technical documentation to support the systems• security requirements and operational support.
MUST HAVE SKILLS - Knowledge and experience with Granite circuit database
- IP knowledge and understanding of routing / assigning IPs
- Digital Communications including: Fiber, Ethernet
- Microwave experience including: ALU/Nokia MPR9500
- Proficient in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.

- Strong interpersonal and communications skills needed.
- Need to be highly productive and pay close attention to detail.
- Familiarity with engineering and engineering economic principles preferred.
- DWDM Optical Transport systems including: ALU/Nokia 7705 & 7750 routers
DESIRED SKILLS:
-In depth knowledge and advanced proficiency in CWDM/DWDM Optical Transport systems including: Ciena, Alcatel-Lucent
-Familiarity with Dark Fiber vendors, their organizational processes and standards, as well as their network portfolio maps is preferred.
-Knowledge of Pathloss 5 microwave design software
-Executive level troubleshooting, problem solving, project management, and interpersonal skills
-Superior organizational and planning skills (setting and communicating priorities; anticipating workload impact on resources of both self and team; delegating where appropriate; consistently following up on outstanding items; and providing focus in meetings and discussions).
-Ability to learn new technology quickly and apply working knowledge of wireless engineering on new projects.
- Contract knowledge preferred but not required
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $65.00 - $70.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
