At the core of our operations, the Director of Procurement plays a pivotal role in ensuring the continuous supply of high-quality produce. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive position is strategic, focusing on leading our procurement strategy and negotiating contracts with fruit and vegetable suppliers. Compliance with PACA regulations and USDA inspections across all commodities is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the procurement team, establishing strategic direction and objectives that align with the company’s vision and growth goals.
- Negotiate and oversee contracts with suppliers to secure optimal terms, prices, and geographic diversification while upholding standards of quality and reliability.
- Ensure strict adherence to PACA regulations, USDA inspections, and agricultural standards, promoting a culture of quality and safety.
- Manage procurement across all commodities, adapting strategies to market dynamics and supplier performance to maintain uninterrupted supply and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with Quality Control and Operations teams to ensure procurement strategies support the delivery of high-quality, high-yield produce.
- Cultivate strong supplier relationships to proactively address and mitigate supply risks.
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and systems, leveraging technology for enhanced efficiency.
- Advocate for sustainability and ethical sourcing practices within procurement, aligning with corporate commitments to environmental stewardship and responsibility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Agriculture, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with significant leadership experience, preferably in food processing or agriculture.
- Proven track record in contract negotiation and supplier management, particularly with fruit and vegetable suppliers.
- Deep understanding of PACA regulations, USDA inspections, and fresh produce quality standards.
- Experience managing procurement across various commodities, including fruit (e.g., melons, mangos, citrus) and vegetables (e.g., greens, peppers, onions, tomatoes).
- Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives and achieve results in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical abilities.

Pay: $90,563.69 - $109,065.95 per year
