In fact, our Sterling Heights facility is expanding our Press Operations Apprenticeship (Trainee) Program. You don't need to go to school, you'll learn on the job!
Ideal candidates will have some experience in manufacturing, an understanding of power tools, or some mechanical abilities; however, the most important aspect of an Apprenticeship is the desire to learn and grow in the field of press operation.
As a Press Operation Apprentice, you will:
- Assist in the operation of presses to produce high-quality parts
- Assist with set up and tear down of tools
- Assist with barber dies including Class A surfaces
- Assist with tryout dies
- Set up and adjust machines
- Learn how to meet target completion times.
- Perform spotting of tools
- Develop tooling concepts / blanks
- Identity problems and recommend solutions
- Safely and independently operate all presses including hydraulic and mechanical
- Drive hi-lo carefully following all safety rules
- Operate crane carefully following all safety rules
- Perform quality checks on finished products
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in manufacturing, an understanding of power tool functions/use or mechanical abilities are preferred.
- Ability to learn quickly and follow instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
