Job Summary: To provide structured, goal oriented and time limited Family Centered Treatment in when possible in the natural environment to families who need assistance recovering from a variety of issues surrounding substance abuse, mental illness, physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and neglect. Services may also be rendered in a Therapeutic Group Home and/or Foster Care setting.
Trauma Informed Practice
Employee will deliver services in such a way that the clients/families feel respected, informed, connected, and hopeful regarding their own future. The staff must demonstrate an understanding, through the services provided, of the interrelation between trauma and symptoms of trauma (e.g., substance abuse, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety). The provider will work in a collaborative way with child/family, extended family and friends, and other human services agencies in a manner that will empower child/family. Employee shall possess the ability to utilize a trauma informed practice model and guide services reflective of such a lens.
Culturally Competent Practice
Employee must respect the culture of the children and families with which it provides services. All staff persons providing services with the family must be aware of and sensitive to the client’s cultural, ethnic, and linguistic differences. All staff also must be aware of and sensitive to the sexual and/or gender orientation of the child, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning clients. Employee shall possess the ability to utilize a culturally competent model and guide services reflective of such a lens.
Family Preservation and Safety
Employee must monitor and address any safety concerns for the child (ren). FCT service providers must adhere to the State and Federal laws requiring the reporting of suspected abuse and neglect. The intervention must be strength-based with the family participating in identifying the focus of service. Services must be provided according to evidenced and best practices; providers will build trust based relationships with families and partners by exhibiting empathy, professionalism, genuineness and respect. Employee will use the skills of engaging, teaming, assessing, planning and intervening to partner with families and the community to achieve better outcomes for children. Employee shall possess the ability to utilize a family preservation model and guide services reflective of such a lens.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide therapeutic services to clients including:
- Crisis intake
- Assessment of needs
- Intervention
- Evaluation of problems
- Monitoring of family/parental progress
- After-care linkage
· Provide therapeutic supervised visitation to families separated due to allegations of and/or substantiated abuse or neglect.
· Develop of short and long-term family goals with measurable outcomes
· Attend and participate in Child & Family Team Meetings as requested by referent.
· Attend weekly individual or group supervision.
· Provide thorough documentation including treatment plans, progress notes, monthly reports and assessments and submitted within required deadlines reflecting language related to the model.
· Testify in court as subpoenaed or requested by Department of Child Services or Probation.
· Complete the self-guided Wheels of Change® training course and make consistent progress toward achieving “FCT Certification” from the Family Centered Treatment Foundation (FCTF). In addition to the online-based training and required readings, the certification process requires Field Certification: the videotaped demonstration or direct field observation of competencies in the field with real clients.
· Once certified, complete on-going activities necessary to maintain certification from FCTF.
· Provide Family Center Treatment to families and guide them through the four phases of treatment in a timely manner.
· Complete and maintain all program fidelity documents in a timely manner.
· Make at least two, multi-hour sessions a week with each family system.
· Practice within the inclusive model and at times provide services and interventions related to case work services.
· Spend an average of 5 hours a week with each client family.
· Must possess ability to interpret and implement department policies, procedures, and systems.
· Must be able to function effectively both independently and as part of a team.
· Requires flexibility in work schedule, including the need to work some daytime, evenings and weekends.
Specific Requirements:
· At least 21 years of age.
· Possess state educational requirements for QMHP-C or higher
· Have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and continuous use of a reliable car.
· Ability to work in all counties receiving services.
· Excellent organizational skills.
· Belief in family preservation philosophy.
· Effective written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to work in stressful situations.
· Self-motivated, but demonstrating a willingness to accept directions.
· Ability to manage several cases at one time.
· Ability to consistently provide appropriate documentation for each client.
· Ability to establish and maintain good community relations with other professionals.
· Ability to work as a team member.

· Ability to organize multiple cases and work demands for multiple clients.
· Knowledge and insight into human behavior.
· Belief in helping clients change circumstances, not just adapt to them.
· Excellent writing skills.
· Must be able to operate computer and work within multiple databases.
· Achieve and maintain FCT level 1 certification and renewal within FCTF verification process
· Must be flexible to meet needs of crisis situations, including staffing problems.
· Ability to sort out and allocate needs based on the most immediate needs to keep child
in the home.
· Must be able to respond to crisis within one (1) hour of notification.
· May be required to provide service in contiguous counties surrounding home office (Salem or Richmond)
Educational Requirements:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a human service or in special education from an accredited college or university:
a. Education verified by an official transcript with conferral date
b. Evidence of 1,500 hours of supervised experience obtained within the past 5 years (hours with children or adolescents with mental illness during an internship or practicum can be considered as part of the 1,500 hours of supervised experience requirement)
OR
· Masters Degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy or related human service field and
· Two years related clinical experience
