Primex Color, Compounding and Additives Corporation is a leader in the manufacture of custom compounds and color concentrates for a diverse range of industries. A subsidiary of Primex Plastics Corporation, Primex Color operates two manufacturing facilities, located in Jasper, TN and Garfield, NJ.
We are looking for a Sourcing Manger to be responsible for handling the company’s end to end sourcing operations. The successful candidate will be able to appraise and improve our sourcing activities by analyzing the company’s spending and supplier partnerships for our facilities in TN and NJ. This position will physically work on-site (not remote) at the Jasper, TN plant (about 30 miles West of Chattanooga). Reporting to the Operations Manager, this will be a key position within the organization, and will have the following responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing the entire supply chain and inventory levels including strategic sourcing, supplier management, negotiations, and looking at alternative suppliers.
- Manage the company’s supply portfolio ensuring transparency of spending.
- Analyze and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure.
- Invent negotiation strategies and secure profitable deals on raw materials.
- Negotiate for minimizing the cost for material and get the best possible price.
- Discover and partner with trustworthy current and alternative vendors and suppliers.
- Look for alternative suppliers to remove single source vendors.
- Optimize sourcing procedures to attain maximum efficiency.
- Cooperate with stakeholders to guarantee agreement on terms and processes.
- Research and anticipate shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers.
- Reviewing supplier contracts and pricing schedules.
- Negotiating contracts with suppliers to secure advantageous terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality specifications.
- Perform bidding and negotiating purchases for domestic and international purchasing supply demands.
- Reviewing and scoring RFXs (Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quote (RFQ), and Request for Bid (RFB)) and recommendations to the business
- Managing specific sourcing initiatives from business need through RFX to Contract and PO placement.
- Attending and participating in meetings with vendors, FWS and internal clients to learn about new technologies.
- Supervise every negotiation and provide guidelines for purchasing.
- Delivering significant measurable annual savings in both budgets and cost avoidance
- Developing and implementing strategic sourcing plans to optimize company spending and supplier partnerships.
- Maintain and update price lists and agreements to guarantee accurate documentation for purchasing decisions.
- Stay current on vendors pricing to ensure Primex is getting the best deals on materials and services.
- Reviewing bids submitted by vendors to ensure they meet contractual requirements.
- Communicate with suppliers to address and improve performance concerns.
- Process PO change orders or updates for shipping/fees as needed.
- Schedule and coordinate delivery of raw materials as needed to meet customer order requirements between Jasper and NJ plants.
- Responsible for reviewing days stock on hand to quickly identify production/procurement gaps as well as excessive inventory on hand.
- Evaluate suppliers and supply quarterly updates/ Score Card
- Work with Sales on forecasting and create policies for uniformity.
- Perform and analyze Monthly forecasting to ensue and maintenance acceptable inventory levels.
- Develop and utilize capacity planning techniques to provide timely information to customer service regarding current lead times and information regarding expected customer order ship dates.
- Continuously work towards goal of increasing/improving inventory turns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business or Logistics or other related field; or equivalent experience.
- Requires strong purchasing experience, excellent customer service, outstanding teamwork, ability to multitask and some project management skills with a pragmatic results orientation.
- Two + years related experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to build relationships and work well across functions.
- Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Overall computer proficiency, including email and Microsoft Office programs.
- Willing to travel up to 30% of the time.
