Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. Your expertise in vehicle maintenance and repair will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet.
Duties:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on diesel vehicles and equipment
- Use power tools and hand tools to disassemble, inspect, and assemble engine components
- Conduct automotive diagnostics to identify issues and determine appropriate repair solutions
- Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to troubleshoot complex problems
- Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance tasks, and parts used
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area
- Maintains inventory and restock items
- May respond to road calls.
- Maintains records of repairs and preventive maintenance
- May perform other general garage duties as needed.
- Examines, test drives and troubleshoots electrical and mechanical problems using standard testing procedures and computer diagnostic equipment.
- Performs repairs and replaces defective parts.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients regarding vehicle issues and repairs
- Proficient in vehicle maintenance procedures, including engine tune-ups, brake inspections, and fluid checks
- Knowledge of power tools and their safe operation for efficient repair work
- Ability to diagnose electrical systems using diagnostic equipment
- Familiarity with Caterpillar engines is a plus
- Experience working in a diesel truck or automotive repair shop is preferred
- Skilled in equipment repair, including hydraulic systems
Knowledge, skills, and abilities :
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair problems of general and advanced nature.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring heavy physical effort occasionally in inclement weather.
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of engine repair, mechanical and electrical systems and maintenance.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
Minimum Requirements:
•* Education: High school diploma or GED. *
•* Must have own tools.*
•* Experience: Three years experience in diesel engine repair and or overhauling*
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•* *Sitting, standing, walking, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, and sifting /carrying up to 50 lbs multiple times per shift
