Job Description:
As an Overnight Puppy Academy Caretaker, you will play a pivotal role in the care and development of our future guide dogs. You will be responsible for ensuring the well-being and enrichment of our canine residents, including both puppies and adult dogs. Your duties will encompass a wide range of tasks, from basic care to medical procedures and everything in between.
Core Competencies:

Thorough Understanding of Puppy and Adult Dog Care: You will need to have a comprehensive understanding of puppy care, adult dog care, including broods whelping, breeding, and day-to-day operations and goals of the Puppy Academy.

Adherence to Protocols and Procedures: Adhere to protocols and procedures in all areas of the Puppy Academy.

Comprehensive Care and Enrichment: Provide care and appropriate enrichment for kenneled dogs and puppies, including feeding, walking, grooming, and more.

Medical Procedures: Assist with various medical procedures such as blood draws, x-rays, ultrasounds, and administering medications as directed.

Communication and Reporting: Effectively communicate with team members, report medical/behavior problems, and follow set protocols and curriculums.

Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to volunteers and visitors to Southeastern Guide Dogs.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in animal care preferred.

Knowledge of medical procedures and protocols related to dog care.

Ability to work overnight shifts.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with animal care.
