AEMS Development LLC has an immediate opening for a highly skilled and experienced Civil Drafter with Carlson experience to be part of a team of engineering professionals. Civil Drafters are required to work in person at our offices in Johnson City, TN. AEMS Development LLC works with local and top 10 national builders, developing raw sites into residential developments in North East Tennessee and beyond. Under the direction of our existing team and Professional Engineers. The Civil Drafter will actively contribute to the design of residential subdivisions, as well as commercial and industrial developments. The Civil Drafter will be responsible for providing CAD support to a team of Engineers on a wide variety of projects. Attention to detail and expertise will play a critical role in the success of each project.
Daily functions of this job include but are not limited to: civil design, utility design, grading and drainage design, working with engineering staff, civil construction field support, construction staking and field engineering support.
You will be expected to be able to draft and assist in the design of:
· Site layout
· Grading plans
· Storm water management plans
· Utility placement plans
· Roadway design
· Improvement plans
· Data and design information needed per project design
· Construction staking point files; the completion of plats for as-built, boundary, title, tree and topographic surveys
· Managing production of drawing sets from creation, markup and modification based on overall design
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Technical Degree in a Computer Aided Drafting & Design is preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required, with experience in Carlson Software
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans for generating field layout data
- Must be able to follow drafting and plan preparation standards

- Self-motivated, capable of working unsupervised or within a project team
- Design experience 3 years (Preferred)
- AutoCAD: 3 years (Required)
- Drafting: 3 years (Required)
- Carlson Software 1 year (Required)
· Experience creating surfaces and creating profiles (feature lines, 3d poly lines)
· Experience creating road networks
- Understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Windows, Outlook, Project, Word, and Excel
- Knowledge in use of any land surveying field equipment is a plus
- Valid driver's license with insurable record
- Excellent technical communication skills and strong attention to detail
Work Environment
Normal work environment will be a business office with moderate noise. Occasionally may visit or be temporarily assigned to work in a construction site. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, work near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
Physical Demands
Occasionally may conduct or participate in a field visit, site inspection, or survey of a construction site. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
