Primary Functions
The primary function of the Maintenance Electronic Technician is to troubleshoot pneumatics, and electronics to the component level, as well as work on PLC ladder logic. The incumbent must work with thermocouples, RTDs, various level sensing devices, thickness detectors, consistency transmitters, load cells, and other high-tech devices.
Location: Shreveport, LA
Shift: 2nd shift
Compensation: $33.67, plus a .50 shift differential when working the evening shift -$34.17/hr

Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Will possess a thorough understanding as well as hands-on experience with electrical & electronics maintenance principles.
- Troubleshoot machine breakdown and repair situations and safely restore the machine to the proper operating condition.
- Ability to solve machine operation problems using a skill set of deductive reasoning, and electric test meters.
- Inspect, replace, or repair non-operational equipment and/or components of equipment that are hindering the equipment from operating efficiently.
- Test electrical systems, and equipment, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Work closely with the other Maintenance department crafts to support initiatives that improve equipment reliability.
- PLC troubleshooting, repair, and programming experience required.
- Rebuild the components to be used on the equipment in the plant along with reading and interpreting blueprints and layout instructions.
- Complete understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic theory.
- Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of electrical principles and adequate skills to understand various plant processes.
- Assist line mechanics and electricians as necessary when needed to support production including all of the above listed tasks and other means of support as needed.

Usually, the employee will perform the majority of this job in a shop environment. However, while performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Environmental Conditions
The manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas. Manufacturing processes involve granules, sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as fork lifts, buggies, genie booms, and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas.
Qualifications
- Perform daily activities needed to support and comply with requirements surrounding plant maintenance activities.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints schematics, and wire control panels.
- Will participate in training, craft skill improvements, and department safety topics.
- Follow all safety precautions and JSA’s while performing tasks at all times when on the premises Along with performing fire response responsibilities.
- All areas are to be clean and clear of any debris before/after maintenance days and holidays.
- Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
- Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.
- Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
- Participate in the development, understanding, and review of all position JSA’s
- Conduct required SMAT Audits in accordance with plant goals and objectives.
Experience
- Technical or Two-year associate degree required.
- A combination of a High School Diploma or GED plus equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Candidate must demonstrate mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge, A/C and 3-phase circuits, & instrumentation knowledge and skills.
- Must maintain a positive rating as described in the training/qualification evaluation record as a Maintenance Electronic Technician.

- Ability to work with arms above head.
- Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
- Ability to operate and understand the operation of all protective safety equipment in the area.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Hand-eye coordination.
