The HVAC Journeyman is responsible for the operation, repair, maintenance, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
Responsibilities:
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Journeyman level HVAC mechanic.
- Familiarization with building automation systems .
- Familiarization with variable frequency drives.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting background. Low and high voltage troubleshooting up to 460 volts
- Strong boiler (hot water and steam) and chiller experience.
- Pneumatic and digital controls experience.
- EPA CFC Universal refrigerant handling certification.
- Black seal boiler operator. Or willing to acquire Black Seal within a year.
- Blue seal preferred.
- Sweating and brazing.
- Cutting and threading of black pipe.
- Strong background in steam distribution systems.
- Steam trap troubleshooting and replacement.
- Ability to rebuild pumps.
- Replacement of motors and pulleys.
- Team and goal oriented.
- Replacing valves and actuators.
- Rotating on call schedule, after hours recall
- Coordinating of contractor work.
- Parts research and submission for approval
- Changing of contactors, relays, dampers, damper motors, transformers
- LOTO safety procedures.
- Installation of HVAC equipment, furnaces, boilers, condensers, coils, exhaust fans.
- HVAC parts inventory management
- Filter, belts, pulley maintenance.
- Refrigerant recovery.
- Able to read refrigerant pressure and temperature gauges.
- Diagnosing and repairing split systems, rooftop units and mini split systems.
Qualifications:
- HVAC Certification & EPA Licenses to handle refrigerants
- Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must be able to follow safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks
