We are looking for an experienced, reliable person to act as a lead plumber on projects, including but not limited to commercial, industrial and institutional plumbing renovation projects, and new facilities. Our work is mostly in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill and the surrounding area, so we are looking for someone who lives in that general area. Most work will be in educational and state government settings. This is a hands-on, "working superintendent" position. The person we hire will need to be able to lead at least one helper and may lead a larger team from time to time.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems
- Plan, install, assemble, maintain, and repair pipes, fittings, plumbing equipment, and fixtures of plumbing systems
- Cut, thread, and bend pipes using power tools or hand tools
- Braze or solder pipes and fittings together
- Test piping systems for leaks and ensure proper functioning
- Collaborate with other construction professionals to coordinate installations and repairs
- Adhere to safety standards and building codes
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a plumber
- Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and specifications
- Knowledge of power tools and their safe usage
- Familiarity with plumbing techniques for joining copper, pvc, cpvc, cast iron and acid systems
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of piping systems
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Normal working hours are 10 hours per day, Monday through Thursday. Some overtime/weekend work will be required. Infrequent travel - almost all work is in the Triangle area.
In order to properly perform the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, hear and use hands/fingers in order to grasp/handle/feel. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb up and down ladders and/or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. This position requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
This position requires frequent working outdoors, inside mechanical/equipment rooms, regularly being exposed to extreme inside/outside weather conditions to include extreme hot and/or extreme cold. This position is regularly exposed to electrical hazards, moving mechanical parts, and heavy equipment. Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, elevated and/or precarious workplaces, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
