JOB SUMMARY
Plan and co-ordinate transportation and manage the timely flow of customer orders to meet on-time delivery targets. The Logistics Coordinator will facilitate the efficient and timely transport of products between Carolina Handling facilities, Suppliers and Customers in a manner compliant with all company policies and governmental regulations. They will also provide consistently effective communication with all relevant parties including suppliers, internal and external customers, and field personnel.
Principle duties and responsibilities
Coordinate, plan and execute distribution operations as per company procedures
Determine volume and ensure that all shipments are processed timely
Assure delivery requirements and coordinate pick-up / delivery activities
Prepare and maintain necessary distribution documents and records
Accurate, timely scheduling and dispatching of trucks to ensure efficient flow to meet customer demand
Track shipments from pickup through delivery so that accurate, up-to-date information can be provided regarding any shipment
Monitor shipping status regularly using software applications and provide effective notification to, and communication with, all relevant parties
Teamwork with cross-functional areas to assure objectives are met for all areas
Negotiate with transportation providers to obtain best rates and service
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and recommend improvements for existing distribution instructions
Participate in Logistics projects by managing new initiatives as they arise.
Maintain daily, weekly and monthly reports and statistics.
Active involvement with problem-solving of issues presented.
Filing and administrative duties as required
Knowledge, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent customer skills
Basic PC knowledge and data entry skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to interact with team members to develop good working relationships
Basic Mechanical understanding
High school or equivalent minimum, associate degree or 2 - 3 years appropriate experience
Strong mental ability to maintain a calm demeanor under pressure or stress
Excellent communications skills: written, verbal and listening
Must exhibit detail orientation and ability to juggle priorities
Level of authority
Issue Purchase orders for repairs, and miscellaneous. Daily coordination of drivers for the timely delivery of rental, demo, service, and new equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to work in a high paced working environment. Must be able to adapt to a busy office environment with rapidly changing priorities and remain professional at all times. The Associate is occasionally exposed to a machine shop environment and hazards from equipment movement, and may be required to travel overnight.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to sit and talk, using good articulation and voice control; and hear clearly. The Associate is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The Associate is occasionally required to stand for moderate amounts of time. The Associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
