SUPERINTENDENT LEVEL 3/4 (CIVIL INFRASTRUCTURE )
POSITION SUMMARY:
Metcon is a commercial general contractor that specializes in construction management,
negotiated, design-build and select hard-bid projects. The Civil Infrastructure Superintendent 3/4 is to
coordinate all site construction activities and supervise all field staff including Foreman and
unless otherwise delegated: Sub-Foreman, and subcontractors. Effectively coordinate with
trade partners, various field personnel and manage project tasks to meet schedule and
budget. This includes maintaining the highest quality, supervising all trade and field
personnel, while administering good construction safety practices with all on-site activities.
They serve as an important point of contact for project communications, planning, and
reporting. Responsibilities begin from the start of construction through close-out,
commissioning, and warranty. Level is determined by performance, experience, project
complexity, size, and value. Ensure project goals, objectives and initiatives are met in
alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Metcon. Minimum of 10 years’ experience.
Job Description:
Lead, direct and oversee the safe and effective daily field operation of a single large/complex
project, or multiple projects of a value greater than $50M. Actively participate in the
development and implementation of major strategic initiatives for the division. Perform general
labor duties including a designated spotter for trucks and equipment on an asphalt paving lay
down crew or grading crew. Act as needed to the effective daily operation of a single project, or
multiple projects, by providing technical and informational support to the project team. Establish
project objectives and policies, maintain liaison with prime clients and monitor construction and
financial activities. Act as needed to ensure project goals, objectives and initiatives are met in
alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Metcon.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set clear and attainable goals for the infrastructure team, and holding each team member
accountable. Responsible for building high performing teams through best practices in
recruiting, hiring, mentoring, training/development and employee engagement.
- Responsible for leading a field operations team, or multiple teams to implement and
maintain a clean and safe work site and to motivate the field operations team to their
highest efficiency to exceed project requirements, quality control, and productivity.
- Work with project manager(s) on high level reporting of cost and profitability.
- Lead the overall project schedule including schedule development and schedule updates
and implement the schedule by coordinating subcontractors and resources.
- Manage contract requirements and scopes of work. Field documentation, punch-list,
close-out, and communication of contract/scope changes with project manager.
- Responsible for leading project teams to implement and maintain a clean and safe work
site and to motivate field operation teams to work to their highest efficiency to exceed
project, equipment requirements, quality control, and operating division productivity and
budget goals. Work with project manager(s) on high level reporting of cost and
productivity.
- Lead the planning and project set up during the preconstruction phase, including
constructability, schedule, scopes of work and site logistics.
- Manage contract requirements and scopes of work. Document field activities including
punch-list, close-out, and communicate contract/scope changes with project manager.
- Effectively manage project(s) to meet schedule by scheduling material delivery and
coordinating subcontractors and field personnel.
- Provide feedback and guidance on production rates and goals.
- Effectively plan and communicate project needs (i.e., labor, equipment, materials, etc.)
Understand equipment capabilities and maximize utilization.
- Promote and Support good internal and external relationships throughout all divisions
and departments of Metcon, with clients and the public.
- This job requires the following motions: standing, walking, stretching, bending, lifting,
pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, and squatting.
- Required regular lifting of 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Walking and standing may require a full day of .
- Will be exposed to sometimes extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Minimum Qualifications & Training:
- High school degree or an equivalent combination of training and work experience
preferred.
- 10 years of field supervision
- NC or SC Drivers License
- OSHA 30-hour
