Position Summary
The Collections representative is responsible for helping members find solutions to their financial situation and bring their accounts current. This will require experience in how to negotiate effectively as well as an understanding of collection law and regulations. Candidate must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment, maintain strong organizational skills and work well in a team environment.
Essential Functions & Primary Responsibilities
- Contact delinquent accounts by phone and mail, meeting with members to analyze their financial situation, finding solutions to delinquency and taking appropriate action to recover collateral when necessary.
- Possess knowledge of Collection practices for consumer, commercial, and mortgage loans including the secondary market.
- Understand all loan type contracts including knowledge on interest rates and dealer insurances.
- Understand and utilize the processes of bankruptcy, repossession, foreclosure, and credit reporting law.
- Handle repossessions, work with bankruptcy issues, process monthly reports, attend court and perform other duties as assigned by the Manager
- Ability to distinguish between small claims and district court requirements, including which documents needed to file with each suit.
- Answer member questions, perform routine clerical duties, type standardized forms, research and operate office equipment.
- Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Asset Controls, and should request legal interpretation as necessary. Must ensure subordinates are also compliant with such laws and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Education & Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or Higher
- A Minimum of One to Five years of Collection or applicable experience is required
- This position requires an understanding in basic computer skills including m365 suites
