Elementary School Art Teacher (Jamaica)

School Culture: GUGCS teaches students our school culture through our core values: Social Justice, Collaboration, Courage, and Kindness. Students are taught the core values through assemblies, class meetings, and various lessons.
Responsibilities:
- Implement Responsive Classroom management strategies to promote classroom community and to value each student as vital part of the class
- Employ a blend of both direct instruction and collaborative, constructivist approaches to meet the needs of all learners
- Adhere to the GUGCS Pacing Calendar and Scope and Sequence
- Employ approaches that address multiples type of learners (visual, sensory, kinesthetic, audio)
- Emphasize that all students are capable and should be treated with high expectations, both behaviorally and academically
- Value and promote peaceful conflict resolution and creative and authentic problem solving
- Uphold school-wide policy of logical consequences
- Create and maintain strong parent relationships in our school community
- Lead a daily morning meeting
- Attend weekly grade team meetings
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Attend professional development workshops
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to Growing Up Green Charter School's mission and green theme
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers
- Knowledge of Responsive Classroom and/or Developmental Designs
- Experience in environmental education a plus
- Ability in integrating technology into teaching
- Excellent organizational skills
- Starting salary is $62,902. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience as lead teacher in a K-12 setting and levels of attained education
Education:
- Master's degree desired, Bachelor degree required
- Classroom teaching experience in the elementary school grades a pus
Required Certificates & Licenses: NYC DOE/Fingerprinting & Background Clearance, NY Teaching Certification
