Job Summary: Reader Precision Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative team at our Precision Plus location in Elkhorn, WI. The Senior Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that products meet the required quality standards and client expectations. Responsibilities include developing and implementing quality control procedures, conducting inspections and tests, analyzing data to identify areas for improvement, and collaborating with other departments to resolve quality issues and proactively protect against the repeat of past quality issues. This position also plays a key role in proactively executing key initiatives within the quality management system to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of quality control principles in a precision machining environment are essential for this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Highly proficient in the use of quality measurement equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), Keyence, Oasis, etc.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot high-level problems with inspection equipment programs with the metrology specialist.
- Act as a technical resource for resolving complex quality-related challenges and implementing best practices.
- Utilize quality tracking software (e.g., High QA) to manage and analyze quality data effectively to aid in the continual improvement of manufacturing processes based on sound data-driven decisions.
- Oversee the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and First Article Inspection (FAI) processes to ensure compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
- Demonstrate the proper uses of gauges and other inspection equipment and show strong comprehension to inspect parts to determine compliance per dimensions listed on manufacturing drawing.
- Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) team in resolving quality issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Manage all aspects of client returns and supplier/vendor issues (CAR’s/RMA’s).
- Follow established procedures for defective components and escalate recurring or high-impact situations to the quality manager.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality, productivity, and client satisfaction.
- Perform internal audits to assess compliance with quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with all Quality Engineer job duties when needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment is required.
- Advanced knowledge of using inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, Zeiss CMM, Oasis, Keyence, etc.
- Experience with quality tracking software and statistical tools, preferably High QA.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, use formulas, standard charts, tables, and technical references.
- In-depth understanding of PPAP, FAI, and calibration management processes.
- Sound understanding of AS9100 standards and procedures is required.
- Experience driving quality continuous improvement techniques, technical audits, and corrective/preventive action plans.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized with a strong focus on accuracy and precision.
- A drive for results and the ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task while prioritizing multiple work projects.
- Effective decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficient computer skills specifically with the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to quickly catch on to new software and technology.
- A positive, “can do” attitude with a genuine passion for manufacturing and client service.
Work Schedule:
The position is full-time, exempt (salaried), and requires approximately 45 hours per week.
