The Director/ Lead Teacher will have a wide array of duties to ensure the efficient and smooth day-to-day operations of their preschool/ classroom. This is a very small school- which is why the Director and Lead Teacher roles are merged. They need to be able and willing to take direction and work independently. A successful Director/ Lead Teacher will maintain positive relationships with students, Instructional Aides, parents, School founder, and other staff. The Director/ Lead teacher will be creative in presenting engaging material and in classroom management. They will also maintain the appropriate records on site, and order materials monthly for the classroom.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Present new material and supporting projects to the whole classroom or small groups in an engaging way while following school curriculum guidelines.
- Gauge the student energy and make changes when needed.
- Assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master learning concepts.
- Supervise students in classrooms, and school yards
- Create art and other enrichment projects
- Track student progress, bring students from manipulatives to paper, assess students for mastery, and make sure to progress them timely through the material
- Engage in all Pear Tree trainings, particularly those that focus on Pear Tree’s social justice curriculum, socio metric bias surfacing, and integrated projects
- Communicate with parents in the following ways
- Maintain communication with families about class rules, supply needs, field trips, or class events and activities using parentsquare and email.
- Respond to parent communication via parentsquare app, phone, text and email in a timely manner.
- Use parentsquare app to post pictures of students weekly or more frequently.
- Prepare for and run two parent-teacher conferences per student per year.
- Prepare for and run Back to School Night in your classroom.
- Write monthly academic calendars for parents.
- Cover duties of Assistant Teacher or other teachers as requested during absences.
- Manage conflict between students as needed.
- Ensure that classroom, outdoor, and bathroom environments are kept clean and orderly and that students take responsibility for their environments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,383.74 - $60,677.20 per year
