Job Summary
Coordinates catering to make sure all functions are prepared, delivered, served and cleared in a timely fashion. Prepares and serves food at scheduled functions under the supervision of the Executive Chef and Director. Will drive a catering delivery truck. Prepares and delivers food and beverage to catered functions. Sets up functions, may serve at functions, breaks down the set-up, and leaves the area neat and clean and returns left over food and equipment to the Catering Department in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for reviewing orders Daily in the Catertrax system in order to plan schedules for upcoming orders.
- Returns food and beverages, serving equipment and utensils to the catering facility
- Responsible for ensuring proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures – follows HACCP standards.
- Maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area.
- Handles foods items appropriately during preparation.
- Ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes and in following prescribed production standards.
- Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service as assigned.
- Cleans equipment, as assigned and in a timely fashion. Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments.
- Greets and interacts with customers in a courteous manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Serves customers quickly, in proper portions, in a courteous demeanor.
- Demonstrates a complete understanding of menu items and explains same to customers accurately.
- Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly and service-oriented manner. Relays relevant concerns from customers directly to supervisors.
- Ensures corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed.
- Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
- Cleans up spills immediately.
- Attends C.H.A.T. and all other training sessions.
- Assist other functions as needed.
- Determines workload requirements from information gathered from the catering orders.
- Communicates food and beverage needs and order requests to management.
- Ensures all catering is delivered and set-up in the requested time frames.
- Prepares items for catering such as sandwiches, salads, and upscale platters.
- Bakes items such as cookies, muffins, cupcakes, and pastries
- Assembles and delivers all food and supplies for catered functions to the scheduled locations.
- Ensures proper service to clients during the event.
- Ensures proper cleaning of all equipment after the function is completed.
- May assist personnel in setting up a function room to the desired specifications.
- Arranges tables and decorations. Set buffet tables with food, beverage and service items according to pre-established standards.
- May serve food and beverages to guests.
Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate and read documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, and operation and maintenance instructions.
- Aptitude for effectively operating hospital’s admission, discharge and transfer (ADT) system, and other computer-based systems, which manage patient care records.
- The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, as well as maneuver and push food delivery carts. Reasonable accommodations can enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
