The Production Master Scheduler is responsible for creating and managing the master production schedule to meet customer demands and optimize production efficiency. This role involves coordinating with various departments, including production, procurement, and sales, to ensure that production plans align with company goals and resource availability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Develop and Maintain Production Schedules: **
- Create and update the master production schedule based on customer orders, forecasted demand, and inventory levels.
- Ensure schedules are realistic and achievable, taking into account production capacity, labor, and material availability.
2. **Coordinate with Departments: **
- Work closely with production, procurement, and sales teams to gather necessary information and align production plans with business objectives.
- Communicate schedule changes and updates to all relevant stakeholders.
3. **Monitor and Adjust Schedules: **
- Track production progress and make necessary adjustments to the schedule to address issues such as equipment breakdowns, labor shortages, or material delays.
- Implement contingency plans to minimize disruptions and ensure timely delivery of products.
4. **Optimize Production Processes: **
- Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve production issues and enhance product quality.
5. **Inventory Management: **
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely replenishment of materials.
- Balance inventory levels to meet production needs while minimizing carrying costs.
6. **Reporting and Analysis: **
- Generate regular reports on production performance, schedule adherence, and inventory status.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on data analysis.
Qualifications:
- **Education: ** Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- **Experience: ** Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- **Technical Skills: ** Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
