Position Overview
Deliver extraordinary leadership to the Finance & Accounting functions while exemplifying company values. Through oversight of all Finance & Accounting functions, provide strategic, operational, and tactical decisions needed to ensure financial health and making sound financial decisions. Provide ever-improving timeliness for all monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports & statements. Working closely with the COO, Office Manager and business owners, set and execute key business objectives leading to ever improving financial health.
Primary Responsibilities
· Establish and mentor a highly competent and a lean Finance & Accounting Team
· Manage day-to-day accounting functions including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, procurement and general ledger
· Define F&A KPI’s then execute on them
· Implement short and long-range accounting department goals, objectives, policies and procedures
· Accurately and consistently close the Books by the end of each subsequent month
· Accurately and consistently provide account-level profitability statements within 5 business days of each month’s books being closed
· Accurately and consistently close each Financial Year within 90 days of year-end then oversee year-end financial audit process performed by an independent CPA firm
· Ensure accuracy of inventory and corresponding value through standardized audits and reconciliation
· Ensure Segregation of Duties so that no one person has sole control over the lifespan of a transaction
· Perform technical accounting issue research and resolution as necessary
· Assist the COO and ownership with preparation and completion of an annual budgeting process, evaluate performance against budget, and develop forecasts/reforecasts to provide an accurate projection of financial performance (currently non-existent)
· Comply with GAAP Standards and elevate to Ownership any financial/accounting irregularities/concerns
· Develop and enhance F&A policies, internal control processes and procedures in compliance with GAAP
· Ensure local, state and federal tax compliance and reporting
· Ensure oversight for all required municipal, state, and/or federal filings & licenses
· Manage debt covenant reporting
· Support and/or manage projects and initiatives as assigned (e.g. annual plating of vehicles)
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CPA helpful but not required
· 10+ years F&A management experience building and leading F&A team(s)
· 10+ years actively managing General Ledger transactions
· 10+ years and A-level expert in Financial Accounting Systems, ideally Quick Books
· Waste Management and/or Recycling industry experience beneficial, not required
· Superior Budget management and Financial planning & reporting acumen
· Strong interpersonal, team building skills, and conflict management skills
· Effective problem-solving skills including decision-making, time management, and task prioritization
· Exceedingly well-organized and detail oriented
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
