SALARY RANGE: $4,566.00 per month (HE-06) Effective 07/01/2024
Position may be extended or converted to Permanent with Management Approval.
DUTIES: This position works in the
provide direct care to the day health clients, as well as to provide supportive, therapeutic, and
recreational activities to the clients. The Adult Day Health Aide assists in the daily health center
activities by implementing nursing, physical and recreational therapeutic measures and providing
personal care and grooming. The position may be required to work independently in carrying out
some of the day health center activities. Performs other related duties as assigned.
- The incumbent of this position may also provide services at
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
Education: High School Diploma.
Experience: Two (2) years of work experience in a hospital or other medically oriented institution or
program where the primary object was to observe and report on a variety of physical and/or mental
symptoms and conditions and implement care and/or treatment procedures for a caseload of
patients/residents. Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills (i.e.,
taking vital signs, measuring output, recognition of abnormal signs and symptoms, etc.); first aid; patient
rights; universal precautions; infection control; body mechanics; principles of growth and development;
purpose and benefits of activities of daily living (i.e., eating/feeding, providing fluids, bathing, dressing,
etc.); purpose and benefits of restorative care (i.e., use and application of assistive devices, range of
motion activities, etc.); basic medical and nursing terminology; personal hygiene; bodily care and body
mechanics; housekeeping; the ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate effectively with
others in English; perform tasks involving heavy physical effort (e.g., lift, position, push, pull, and carry 50
lbs. or more, and walk/stand for extended periods of time); demonstrate poise and tact in dealing with a
wide range of clients with different illnesses and injuries; interact patiently and respectfully with staff,
clients/patients/residents, and visitors.
Certification Required: Applicants must have a valid State of Hawaii Nurse Aide Certificate certification
and have completed a State approved training program and Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
and/or Heartsaver (adult, child & infant) must be obtained within six (6) months of employment
