Full Time Residential Nurse (Farrell Treatment Center)
Gilead Community Services is seeking a caring and recovery-oriented part time Residential Nurse to join our Farrell Treatment Center program staff in providing substance use disorder, psychiatric and medical care. About the position:
Gilead is looking to fill a part time residential nurse role in our New Britain area 24 bed residential program for men with significant substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health needs. The hours of the position are Wednesday-Friday 11am to 7pm and Saturday 8am to 4pm . The Residential Nurse is responsible for ensuring the well-being and stability of individuals in the program by providing and coordinating the medical, psychiatric, and pharmacologic treatments they receive, including psychopharmacology and Medication Assisted Treatments (MAT). The role provides support to non-medical staff members, coordinates care with the program physician and prescribers and assists the Nurse Supervisor in overseeing health related care for substance abuse, medical, and pharmacological issues. Screening new referrals and evaluating clients at intake are additional duties of the role. Occasional On-Call responsibility may be required.
Minimum Requirements:
· Must be a Registered Nurse, preferably with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program.
· Connecticut licensure for Registered Nurse required. Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Clinical Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing preferred.
· Three years of experience in the mental health and addictions field.
· Must maintain and provide proof of valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in good standing.

This is a non-union position and pays $35.84-$45 per hour dependent on level of education and experience.
Responsibilities:
· Providing clinical knowledge about severe and prolonged mental health and substance abuse disorders and medical knowledge related to health and well-being.
· Maintaining contact with MDs (i.e. psychiatrists, PCPs, specialists, etc.) to coordinate medical and psychiatric care of individuals.
· Working closely with pharmacies to facilitate proper pharmaceutical care.
· Screens client referral paperwork for medical issues and ensures those issues are manageable at the residential level of care. Conducts additional phone screening with referral sources if necessary to determine appropriateness of referral.
· Providing guidance and support to program staff regarding medical care of clients in the program.
· Conducting Health Histories, Initial Nursing Assessments, and medical evaluations of clients’ emergent medical issues.
· Making appropriate community referrals based on assessments and evaluations to meet clients’ basic health needs.
· Providing occasional on-call coverage as back-up for Nurse Supervisor
· Ensuring proper orientation, training, and management of the medication self-administration system.
· Completing all required documentation electronically and on paper in a timely manner.
