Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION: This position provides engineering support and develops manufacturing processes for new products with a focus on Friction Stir Welding technology. Work collaboratively with internal and external customers to provide technical solutions while effectively managing process, policy, and strategy changes.
Requirements:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: To include but not limited to the following:
Technical evaluation, risk analysis, and process flow and estimation of new products.
Interpretation and validation of manufacturing processes and documentation in accordance with required specifications.
Lead design reviews to ensure that parts can be manufactured efficiently and in compliance with customer requirements.
Work with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and execute cost/cycle-time reduction initiatives.
Work directly with customer as technical liaison.
Project Management.
Design and testing of FSW tools and fixturing.
Development of weld qualification and procedure specifications per AWS D17.3
Engineer sub-component models to accommodate a weldment required for final part geometry and tolerances.
Programming 3-4-5 axis CNC machines for appropriate weld paths.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Minimum of an accredited bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering
Proficient with solid modeling CAD software, preferably Solidworks.
Excellent blueprint reading skills and knowledgeable in GD&T
Familiar with machine programming, preferably Mastercam.
Analyze drawings, design models, and sketches to determine dimensions and configuration related to shop processes, customer specifications, and machine capabilities.
Excellent mechanical aptitude

WORKING CONDITIONS:
In a typical day the employee will spend time in the office and on the production floor.
May on a regular basis walk, bend and lift up to 50 lbs.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
