On-call Registered Nurse out of our West Atlantic City office territory!
WORK HOURS
The On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) must be available to be on-call 5 pm to 9 am Mondays-Thursdays; and 5 pm through 9 am Friday through Monday (7 days on/ 7 days off).
What you'll be doing as an On-call Registered Nurse:
- Assume primary responsibility for the census during assigned shift.
- Answer all phone calls received on behalf of the agency and follow up according to agency policies and procedures.
- Provide skilled nursing, intervention, and supportive care to patients in the facility and/or home setting as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with the Hospice Medicare Conditions of Participation, State licensure laws, accrediting body standards and agency policies and procedures.
- Works in cooperation with family/caregiver and IDT members to meet the physical and emotional needs of the patient/family/caregiver.
- Facilitate patient and family education to promote continuity of care and optimal patient/family outcomes for quality of life as defined by the patient/family/caregiver.
- Complete documentation within agency guidelines and to meet regulatory requirements.
- Accept referrals for new patients in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and respond to the needs of patients and families in varied settings.
- Ability to work as part of a comprehensive interdisciplinary team (IDT), and to represent the agency in the community.
What we're looking for:
- Minimum of one (1) year general nursing experience preferred with current hospice, home health, medical, surgical, or critical care experience.
- Knowledge of pain and symptom management interventions preferred.
- Able to work within an interdisciplinary setting.
- Possesses understanding of Hospice philosophy and principles of death/dying.
- A professional attitude and demeanor and be able to communicate effectively and relate courteously and cooperatively with patients, caregivers, colleagues, supervisor, co-workers and all others is required.
Education and Experience:
- Registered Nurse License issued by the State Board of Nursing required.
- Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) certification preferred.
