Position Summary
Under the direction of the Laboratory Management Team, this incumbent is responsible for a variety of laboratory duties as described below utilizing the provided check lists and work instructions. The Lab Tech/Chemist will test ILA’s products & materials, record results, and report them to appropriate parties. In addition to normal day to day activities, this position is strongly focused on continued training and acquiring new skills, especially additional test methods, calibration & maintenance events, administrative skills, and SAP knowledge.
Essential Job Functions
Responsibilities
· Sample and prepare product blends to be tested in the laboratory. Independently tests and releases samples for filling and shipping. Accurately records test results. Reports deficiencies or malfunctions to supervisor. Can identify out of trend and out of specification results.
· Evaluates and releases filling purges.
· Can stop production on blended or filled materials if results are out of specification.
· Tests raw materials, imported products, and blended products according to ASTM/ JIS and established procedures. Skill sheet and training plan detail the expected methods that should be mastered at this level.
· Calibrate equipment following established procedures.
· Participates in accuracy control testing of equipment. Notifies Laboratory Management team of questionable results.
· Assists with housekeeping and lab maintenance activities such as dishwashing and solvent recycling.
· Performs administrative functions such as entering data into SAP, preparing test sheets, scanning & filing test results, preparing Certificate of Analysis reports for customers, purchasing lab supplies, et al.
· Can assist with small-scale hazardous response spills. Actively participates in all trainings regarding hazardous spill response.
· Performs routine maintenance of lab equipment. Able to trouble shoot equipment issues.
· Prepares solutions and reagents used in laboratory procedures.
· Performs proficiency and round robin testing. Ensures the laboratory is operating in accordance with all IS/TS 16949 and ISO 14001 established policies.

Education
Bachelor's Degree
Experience
0-2 year experience, with degree
5+ year experience in manufacturing laboratory, non-degreed.
