Job Description
The Senior Director, Market Access Account Management reports to the Executive Director, Account Management and is responsible for the leadership and management of a team of Regional Account Directors responsible for calling on and managing relationships with some national and all regional accounts including health plans and PBMs across the United States with a focus on commercial and Medicare segments of the business.
They will participate in the development of strategy and be fully accountable for the execution of access strategies across the regional account level. This individual will directly supervise a team of Account Directors and will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, coaching and training team members.
The candidate must have extensive experience managing accounts, including direct contracting experience and experience managing and leading teams. Additionally, the Senior Director will also be responsible for direct customer facing with targeted national accounts. The Senior Director role is a dual role of Player/Coach.

Motivates and leads the team to exceptional performance and achievement of goals and objectives

Supports and oversees implementation of strategies and tactics to support appropriate reimbursement (coverage, coding, payment and patient access) across assigned Market Access customers

Oversees the business planning process and vision for business opportunities in various market for new and existing products

Analyzes the market in terms of coverage and reimbursement, existing and emerging payer policies, formulary listings, competitive landscape, trends, pricing, contracting strategies, potential barriers to provider and patient access

Works closely with field sales and field reimbursement staff and provides insight on relevant reimbursement issues

Ensures a high level of collaboration and integration with the Marketing Teams, Finance, Medical and Senior US business leadership

Informs the development and directs the execution of scientific and overall value story delivery to all targeted accounts.

Directs the preparation, negotiation, management and acceptance of government payer and/or commercial contracts.

Creates and implements clear messages for dissemination to internal stakeholders on important payer trends, reimbursement changes and billing requirements that will affect product utilization.
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required; Masters/advanced degree preferred

Minimum 15 years of experience in working in biopharmaceutical industry

Minimum 10 years of experience in health plan/PBM account management or similar role

Minimum 5 years of experience leading and managing people/teams

Demonstrated track record of managing to performance

Experience launching products while in a Market Access functional role

Experience in innovative contracting development and negotiation with payers and PBMs.

Experience with Specialty/Rare Disease products a plus

Understand organizational behavior, corporate culture and has demonstrated ability to flourish in a complex and rapidly evolving workplace.

Demonstrated knowledge of payer decision-making for coverage, coding and patient access to biopharmaceuticals

Strong understanding of pharmacy benefit and medical benefit

Exceptional communication skills that include verbal, written and presentation abilities

Working Conditions:

Headquarters or field-based role
-
Travel anticipated to be approximately 60% between field, headquarters and other meetings as appropriate.
Base Salary Expectations for this role is $235k-$275k based off of experience.
