Department Summary
The SPH Office of Student & Academic Services provides centralized comprehensive services to all students and alumni of the UNT Health Science Center (UNTHSC) School of Public Health (SPH). These services include guidance related to degree requirements and academic deadlines; assistance with course registration, transfer credit, and advanced standing; scheduling and enrollment for the CPH examination; administration of the MPH public health practice experience; notification of school-wide information through the SPHFYI; professional development workshops; student development activities; and school-funded scholarship opportunities. Representatives from the office also serve as a liaison between other campus offices to ensure students have a successful experience at UNTHSC School of Public Health.
Position Overview
The Academic Program Manager is a key leadership position with the School of Public Health. This role is responsible for overseeing the operations of the academic programs within the school. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the academic programs, supporting student success, and fostering faculty collaboration. The Academic Program Manager creates a supportive and transformative academic environment, implements student centric initiatives, and ensures the overall quality of the program.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel Ability to analyze situations and data to implement appropriate solutions, and create assessment reports. Detail and service oriented Ability to multitask
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in education, communication, public health and 4 years of related experience.Demonstrate working knowledge of MS Office Suite: primarily Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookConfident speaking before groups of students
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Manage processes related to student success initiatives, including early intervention, advanced standing, automated degree audits, milestones and holds, excused absences, and dropout detective.
- Complete faculty Interfolio reports for each academic semester.
- Manage SPH Scholarship processing for incoming and returning SPH students.
- Prepares course scheduling for each academic semester for all SPH courses.
- Create room reservations to accommodate scheduled in person courses and all professional and academic development sessions.
- Collaborate with external offices including the Registrars Office, Financial Aid, Student Finance.
- Coordinate and plan departmental alumni events for current SPH students.
- Oversee day to day scheduling for the Office of Student Academic Services graduate assistants and complete hiring, onboarding and training.
- EIS advisor management.
- Assist in addressing academic challenges and concerns of students, providing guidance, referrals, and appropriate interventions.
- Develop relationships with community partners fostering student opportunities for community exploration.
