Job:
Hermiston Generating Company is seeking an experienced, motivated, and self-directed I&C Technician who can perform highly skilled work associated with the following general duties: installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and instrumentation devices and equipment; perform related work as required. This is a stable position with an established company within the energy industry.

Applicant Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will be experienced, motivated, self-directed, and reliable individuals that have a desire for knowledge and professional growth.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, with emphasis on instrument and control skills preferred. Power plant experience also preferred. An electrical license is highly desired, but not required.
Applicants must be able to complete and demonstrate knowledge of all phases of instrumentation installation and calibration as well as knowledge of the power plant environment, safety, and electrical hazards, and working knowledge of other maintenance disciplines.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform all phases of the electrical and instrumentation trade. Good communication skills, both verbal and written are required. Must possess the ability to work and coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as required.

Job Description:
- Determine the existence of electrical hazards and problems. Safely isolate, ground, and prepare circuits and electrical apparatus to enable repairs.
- Have knowledge of and use required personal protective equipment.
- Install electrical conduit, pull, and terminate electrical wiring.
- Install, repair, and maintain assorted plant control and process monitoring instrumentation in a combined cycle power plant. This includes but is not limited to: electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and microprocessor-based control and monitoring systems.
- Ability to perform installation, maintenance, testing and calibration of transmitters, gauges, control valves, transducers, probes, level switches, pressure switches, temperature switches, flow meters, and associated equipment that send and receive data.
- Ability to use computer and related computer software to program controllers and analyze control loops. Good computer skills required.
- Ability to use mathematics and algebra to scale and calibrate process instrumentation.
- Utilize knowledge of analog and digital circuitry to troubleshoot instrumentation to the component level and affect repairs to microprocessor-based instruments, computer hardware, wiring, and annunciator systems.
- Read/interpret engineering drawings and manuals to install, calibrate, and maintain plant instrumentation systems. Work from complex engineering and manufacturers drawings or manuals to complete projects and assigned work.
- Use hand and power tools related to the instrumentation trades, and mechanical trades as needed.
- Occasional use of overhead hoists, forklifts and other plant mobile equipment, as needed.
- Install and maintain drive systems such as variable frequency drives, and DC drives. Install and maintain programmable logic control systems (PLC) and distributed control systems (DCS). Interpret and/or modify PLC and DCS control logic as necessary.
- Design layout work on panels, set up complex control systems, interpret and alter engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Effectively communicate problems and solutions to resolve electrical, control system and other maintenance-related problems.
- Observe installed systems to detect potential hazards and determine the need for adjustments or modifications.
- Utilize a computerized maintenance system to retrieve and enter information.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining scheduled maintenance programs for plant equipment.
- Maintain records and data sheets, update drawings, and assist with developing safety procedures as needed.
- Perform other work as required/assigned, which may include, but are not limited to: housekeeping duties, mechanical repairs, assist with various parts warehouse tasks, etc.
- Perform all duties with safety and compliance as a priority!
Hours:
I&C Technicians normally work a 4x10 dayshift weekday schedule. However, temporarywork schedule modifications are occasionally required to support plant needs:
- Position will require occasional call-in work and/or extended work days during emergencies or unusual plant conditions.
- Position will occasionally require mandatory scheduled overtime during periods of planned turbine and equipment outages which could include 12-hour work days and weekend work.
Reporting Relationships:
- Reports to Maintenance & Projects Manager.
- May occasionally work with/oversee/direct contractors.
