SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: The CNA/Health Screener will assist the school nurse by performing state-mandated vision and hearing screenings for students in Pre-K-12. Upon completion of the screenings in the District, the CNA/Health Screener will be assigned and delegated tasks and responsibilities within the Health Services Department under the direction and supervision of the Supervisor of Nurses and the school nurse consistent with the Board of Registration in Nursing regulations (244 CMR 3.05). MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDSKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of skills within the scope of practice of a CNA including infection prevention, patient safety and proper body mechanics. Ability to collaborate with members of students care team.
Culturally proficient in speaking, writing and engaging a diverse, multi-lingual population. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Certified Nursing Assistant with a valid license to practice in Massachusetts. Current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid. The CNA/Health Screener will complete the Massachusetts Department of Public Health hearing and vision training upon hire.
