Job Summary
The General Engineering (Paint/Maintenance) is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the hotel’s facilities and equipment are in excellent working condition. This role involves daily property inspections, addressing maintenance issues, and maintaining all exterior landscape lighting. This person conducts room repairs, including painting, furniture, fixtures, basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC system repairs, under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager. Additionally, this position assists in ensuring compliance with city, safety, and ADA codes, performs scheduled maintenance operations, maintains tools and equipment, organizes storage areas, and coordinates with housekeeping staff regarding room conditions. The General Engineering also assists other staff as needed and adheres to all operational standards, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Communicates with Front Desk staff, Maintenance Supervisor/Manager, and/or the General Manager regarding ground related problems or issues that need immediate attention.
- Performs daily inspection of property for maintenance issues under supervision of Maintenance Supervisor / Manager
- Cleans and maintains all exterior landscape lighting.
- Performs necessary room touch-ups and repairs, with a strong emphasis on painting, as well as furniture, fixtures, basic electrical, basic plumbing, and HVAC system repair.
- Assists Maintenance Supervisor or Manager in ensuring the property passes all city, safety, and ADA codes.
- Performs all regularly scheduled maintenance operations (filters, paint, updates, furniture change-out, etc.)
- Maintains all equipment/tools; report condition of all equipment/tools and notify Maintenance Supervisor or Manager when broken, lost, etc.
- Maintains organization and cleanliness of storage areas.
- Communicates with Housekeeping staff regarding room cleanliness/condition.
- Responsible for the maintenance of company vehicles under direction of Supervisor or Manager
- Assists other staff when needed.
- Adheres to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED); technical or trade school certification preferred.
- 1 year of maintenance experience and 6 months of related experience in hospitality or service industry.
- Proven experience in general maintenance and repairs, with a strong emphasis on painting.
Physical Requirements
- Able to perform the essential functions consistently safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting quality standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and squat frequently.
